I am floating in golden light.

The world is only this light, warm and radiant, above and below. My body is lying beneath me, arms to its sides, eyes closed. I appear restful, content.

While I cannot see the floating form I watch from, I can feel it. It mirrors the one below. Supine, aligned perfectly, floating in endless light.

As I watch they shift through each other, like a double image slipping into and out of focus. When at last they harmonize and lock in perfect union I am struck with an intense, humming vibration that penetrates both bodies. Everything thrums powerfully, building, building, with no crescendo, an immense bell struck. It does not wash through me, but from me, and radiates out into the golden world.

It is a feeling of matchless equipoise. Of peace, and pleasure. The muscles of my conjoined bodies buzz and the air shakes in mighty waves with the sound. As the sensation swells to a point of blinding intensity, I realize what is happening.

This understanding is not in opposition to the colossal bell, but the final shape of it. In this state of symmetry, self-clarity is the inevitable outcome.

At last the bodies slip out of sync and the pounding waves subside. Understanding dissolves, and I open my eyes.
